Our History
Back in 2006, a family of three intrepid wannabe farmers left the east coast in search of affordable farmland. Triangulating areas on the Rand McNally, the Missouri Ozarks seemed like a likely place to start looking, and likely it was!
SteelMeadow Farm is close to the population center of the United States, pretty much “in the middle of nowhere.”
Years later, their child grown and moved to the “Big City, ” Glenn and Mary Jane continue to raise Irish Dexter cattle and commercial goats on the 80 Ozark acres.
Bees, poultry, goat milk products, vegetable garden and fruits supplement the farm’s bounty.
Striving to be as self-sufficient as they can, they have found that being “retired” on a farm means never having a day off. They have learned all sorts of things about animal husbandry and farming the hard way and share these “adventures” on their weekly podcast, Blind Hog and Acorn which is in its second season.
